Membership renewals

Bill Moss has renewed his membership in the chapter. Bill has sung with the Harmony Hawks for 13 years and has served as President, Marketing & Public Relations VP, board member and consistently leads the chapter in advertising sales. Larry Aspleaf has renewed his membership in the chapter. Larry has been a society member for 40 years and has sung with the Harmony Hawks for 39 of those years. He has served as President, Chapter Development VP, Chapter Historian and board member. Larry is far and away the leader in Persons of Note to his credit with 16. Gospel Concert Set for Friday, November 12

We have set the date for the concert for Friday, November 12. This year it will be held at St Mark’s Lutheran Church, 8300 C Avenue, Marion.

Mark your calendars for this. The tentative evening schedule. (Watch for any updates.):

  • Dress rehearsal on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m.
  • Call time for the concert Fri. Nov. 12, at 6 p.m.
  • Doors open (open seating) at 6:30
  • Concert begins at 7 p.m.

Weekly Update

Opening for Foreigner Wednesday

Call is 4 p.m. at McGrath Amphitheater. The uniform for the concert is a short sleeve white button-down shirt, and jeans. (White short-sleeve polo would be acceptable.)

This combined chorus will have 27 tickets available for those who have indicated they will sing as the opening act. Tuesday’s rehearsal will determine what songs we will perform, and these possibilities are indicated with a * in the rehearsal list that follows.

Rehearsal tomorrow

Tuesday’s rehearsal is a combined with the OCC and held at Scottish Rite Temple, 515 A Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids.

Golf outing Friday

Our annual golf outing is this Friday at Airport National Golf Course with tee times beginning at 4 p.m. This is a fun event and COVID-safe!

The last email showed the following registered: Larry Aspleaf with guest Bill Tanner, Bob Kerdus, Bill Moss, Tom Read with guest Brian Read, Wendell Aldrich, Gary LIndsay, Bob Handley, Larry Hlavacek, Jim Sjostrom, Lee Freie, Heath Mueller, Tom Schulein. Joint Rehearsal with Old Capitol Chorus Last week

Great rehearsal Thursday night with Old Capitol Chorus! Singing with about 30 guys was wonderful. We also made great strides on the two contest numbers.

Golf Outing

  • When: Friday, August 13th, beginning at 4:00.
  • Where: Airport National Golf Course
  • Cost: $35 – includes golf and food afterward

The annual golf outing is happening next week. It will be a four-person best-shot “tournament”. Teams will be formed from the people who attend; and you also do not have to be a good golfer. If you plan on attending, let Bob Kerdus know. Let him also know if need clubs.
