Update for March 25

From Larry Hlavacek

I hope you are all sitting down when you receive this email. It is only Thusrsday and you are being notified of the music plan for next Tuesday.

You will see a new song in this list. It is Shenandoah. Gary Lindsay has posted the chart and the learning tracks onto our website so you can work on the song before next week.

  • Please Don’t Give My Daddy No More Wine
  • Mickey Mouse

Main Songs:

  • Daydream
  • Follow the Flag
  • Can You Feel the Love Tonight
  • Shenandoah

We have been having excellent rehearsals. Chad and Oakley have provided new energy to the chorus and have already demonstrated their EXCELLENT music abilities.

As you begin to feel more comfortable being in groups we certainly hope that you make attending our rehearsals an important part of your activities. The next rehearsal will be on Wednesday, March 30 at 6:30. We look forward to seeing everyone in the not-too-distant future.

Not yet scheduled for the vaccine?

If you are 65 or older and have not yet scheduled youself and your significant other for a vaccination, some new options are open. The sooner all of us are vaccinated, the sooner we can be singing together and making public appearances.

Linn County Public Health is providing limited vaccines to people 65 and older, who are having a difficult time setting up appointments. You can call 319-892-6097 on Tuesday mornings after 9:00 to schedule an appointment for any day in the next week. Appointments are limited to 20 people per week day, on a first come, first serve basis.

The Cedar Rapids Community Free Clinic is also scheduling vaccine appointments, and you do not have to be a current patient to receive the vaccine if you are 65 or older. Call them to get added to the schedule at 319-200-2550.

Other places to check are your own health provider and Hy Vee pharmacies.

The governor has recently expanded the criteria for eligibility, so those younger than 65 should also check these resources.
