Cookie Fest this week

In lieu of our regular rehearsal, the chorus will head to Iowa City for the annual Cookie Festival hosted by the Old Capitol Chorus. We’ll join a number of choruses from eastern Iowa at the event, set for 7 p.m. at the Robert A. Lee Community Recreation Center.

If you want to carpool, meet at the Scottish Rite parking lot at 6:10. Dress in blue Harmony Hawk shirt, black pants, black shoes.
If you are driving down separately the location is: Robert A Lee Community Rec Center located at 220 S. Gilbert St, Iowa City.

The chorus will be singing “Isn’t She Lovely”.

Thanks for a successful show!

Thank you to all the chorus for making the show last week a success. It will take a while to crunch all the numbers, but this much we know:

  • Our patrons said that they enjoyed the show – music, script and performers were all well-recieved
  • The chorus was able to learn some great new music and perform it well
  • The afternoon performance time allowed an earlier afterglow with increased attendance
  • The afterglow was a load of fun, especially for the 15 or so Prairie boys and their families

Some special thank yous:

  • Wendell and Al for their leadership as show chairs.
  • John and the music team for preparing the chorus.
  • Greg for preparing the set and show direction.
  • Bill Moss and all who sold ads and solicited donations. Bill again led the way in sales by  a wide margin.
  • A number of spouses and significant others who stepped up on show day to sell tickets, reserve seats, serve as ushers.
  • Lee and Val Freie for organizing and hosting the afterglow.
  • County Corridor and SwitchBack for performing at both the show and afterglow.
