Update, Dec. 7

Join the (virtual) chorus!

We have until Wednesday to submit our contributions to the “Winter Wonderland” virtual performance the Old Capitol Chorus is creating. Being part of this is a great way to connect to your Barbershop buddies and your fans, and it is so 2020!

Step 1 – Rehearse your part. The arrangement the OCC is using is slightly different than the one we have sung in the past. Those who sang with OCC last year will find it familiar. The score and learning tracks are in a Google Folder that you can access at this link. Download a copy of the music for your reference. One idea is to have this on your computer to follow while you listen to the learning track and follow the director .

Step 2 – Register by creating an account at Upbeat Music. It is free and you will need to use the Chrome browser (again free to download and use), and have headphones or an earpiece to listen to the learning track. Once you have Chrome installed, open a browser window, and copy and them paste in this link: https://play.upbeatmusicapp.com/perform/record?id=5DEB0D243B69718E

Step 3 -Dress in something colorful. Record your performance and perform for the camera. Once you have logged in and entered a part from the dropdown menu, you will need to give the program permission to use your computer’s microphone and camera. An image of the director will appear. Follow his direction; there will be eight beats of introduction before the learning track and direction will begin. There is no pitch given so you might play an E-flat or just practice with the learning track to have the pitch in your ear. Your computer will record your performance and afterward there is a chance to redo it as many times as you like before submitting it.

Director Search continues

Our director search committee is led by Larry Hlavacek and consists of Bob Kerdus and Al Huneke from the chorus and Jesse Bunge and Barb Read. They will be posting the following information on the Iowa Choral Directors Newsletter. It has been posted on Harmonize from CSD and on Facebook and LinkedIn. Members can help this search by sharing the Facebook post on their own news feeds. or by emailing this notice to anyone in their contacts who might be interested.

For further information, please refer to our web site at www.harmonyhawks.org/director-search/. There you will find an on-line application form and more information.
