Update, July 7

Movie time with Marty. Those who attended the all-chorus Zoom last Thursday enjoyed a discussion with BHS CEO Marty Munson about favorite movies and the future of barbershop harmony.

All chorus Zoom with BHS CEO

Replacing the bass / bari sectional June 25, an all-chorus Zoom hosted the Society CEO Marty Munson. We took turns sharing our favorite movies and there were some surprising responses, including that Tom Zuber claims to never having seen a movie!

Marty took a few minutes to talk about barbershop in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. He reviewed the Society’s work with other organizations in discussions about how and when we can resume rehearsals safely. In short, quartets will be able to resume before choruses, and in the meantime, we need to continue to use technology to keep singing, as we are doing with our Zoom rehearsals.

Marty also talked about how important it is to connect to our barbershop friends in every virtual way possible. Zoom meetings can be part of that, but we shouldn’t forget to simply email or call each other.

For those who missed the meeting, be sure to check your email for updates every Monday or Tuesday.

Renewals

Ralph Wasik’s renewal photo from 2018.

It brought a smile to my face to see Ralph Wasik’s renewal membership card come through.  He has been an important member of our chapter going on 38 years.  I remember when the chapter rehearsed on the second floor of his Standard Blue Print building on second avenue.

Ralph is a front row lead who has sung solo parts for the chorus.  I wonder who his two Persons of Note were.  Thanks, Ralph for your many years of leadership and harmony.
