There is NO REHEARSAL TONIGHT!
Our rehearsal is this Thursday, a joint rehearsal with Old Capitol Chorus. The complete schedule between now and October’s contest can be found on the Harmony Hawks website.
Thursday rehearsal information
Location: Grace Community Church, 2707 Dubuque St NE, North Liberty. Time: 6:30 – 9 p.m.
Carpool: If anyone is interested in carpooling to North Liberty, meet at Scottish Rite by 5:55. Will need to begin the drive by 6:00.

- 6:30: The Old Songs / Warm-up – Oakley
- 6:40: Polecat – John Marshall choice
- 6:45: Homeward Bound
- 6:55: Daydream
- 7:00: sectionals
- Lead Leader: Wendell Keith; Bass Leader: Larry Hlavacek; Bari Leader: Oakley Lyon; Tenor Leader: Ryan Ballantyne.
- Non-lead parts: Notes on brother can you spare a dime. Notes on middle section of Happy Days “your cares and troubles are gone” etc. And tag.
- Leads: tenor solo section on Shenandoah. Happy Days “your cares and troubles are gone” etc. And tag.
- 7:25: Contest – Happy Days (are Here Again)
- 7:40: Shenandoah
- 7:50: Break – any quartets want to sing for the group?? If no quartet, then we’ll do a tag.
- 8:00: Contest – Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?
- 8:25: Lullabye
- 8:40: Hallelujah
- 9:00: KTWWS – Larry
It’s going to be a long evening but we’ll take a couple breaks as needed and I want to get a lot of great singing in. Please forward to whomever else might be interested in joining us. It’s not too late!
Registering for Fall Contest
Information about the contest and convention is on the Central States website which you can access at this link. The early registration deadline is September 11, and the hotel reservation deadline is Wednesday, September 15.
At last night’s meeting the board voted to pay the registration fee for all who register through the chorus joint reservation by September 8. Contact Larry Hlavachek to let him know you plan to attend no later than September 8.
This will be a considerable expense to the chorus and the board invites all who can afford it to donate back to the chorus their registration fee. (The cost of the registration tickets vary as shown on the photo below.)
