Two chapter quartets deliver Singing Valentines

Our two chapter quartets brought joy to many Friday as they delivered Singing Valentines. At one delivery two little girls asked to sing along for their mom’s singing valentine as Al Huneke whispered words prompting them . At another, an elderly couple locked eyes and joined hands while our quartet sang “Let Me Call You Sweetheart.” They were celebrating their 73rd anniversary later this week. During our delivery to the boss at Legacy Manufacturing in Marion, one employee was impressed enough to immediately order a Singing Valentine for his wife.

Financially, we fell well short of our goal, selling 17 Valentines and making about $700. Still, the effort had some other good results. By creating two chapter quartets, the chorus is in a better place to respond to the many requests we get for providing entertainment to groups in the area. Also, we did provide a free SV to a chorus supporter (Doug Valentine State Farm Insurance), handed out several membership invitations, and we should see some benefits from this. We also sang on WMT radio and that exposure cannot hurt!

Spring Show

We will have the Old Capitol Chorus on the show, replacing the What 4 quartet. Look for the song show order in the next few weeks. Please have all the songs performance-ready by the end of February.

Send invitations to all your contacts. We need to promote this so that we have better attendance.

People can order their tickets, and pay, on our website, by finding the link on the upcoming events page, or from the event in the calendar. Here is the link if you want to include it in your emails to potential customers. https://harmonyhawks.org/event/spring-show-2/#tribe-tickets__tickets-form

Plan to attend the OCC Show

The Old Capitol Chorus presents their spring show 7 p.m. Sat. March 1 at City High School in Iowa City. We should all plan to support them by attending the show. Please put this on your calendars. We’ll make plans to car pool.

Spring Show ad sales

Ad sales have begun. It is critical that all of us support this either by selling ads or by asking supporters for donations or making your own donation.

Here is a check list of steps to complete:

  • Make a list of possible clients
  • Pick up blank contracts and ad letters
  • Take programs from past years to show clients how ads and donations appear

If any of you would like a business card to use in your contacts with clients, please reply to this email and ask me to make some for you. I’ll have them ready for you at Tuesday’s rehearsal.
