The chorus performs at the 2024 Best of Cedar Rapids Gospel Concert.

Gospel Concert Follow-up

A good crowd enjoyed the concert Friday night. The lower level of the auditorium was mostly full and a few sat in the upper level. The crowd seemed to truly enjoy the Harmony Hawks selections and comments after the show confirmed that. It was great to see Carter Hayden perform and to talk with John and Jennifer Hayden at intermission. This is the second year in a row that former Harmony Hawks have appeared on the concert as solo performers.

The collection plate contained well over $3,000 to cover our expenses and provide a good donation to Helping Hands Free Clinic.

We received a few text messages afterward:

  • Loved the show last night. It was excellent! Hard to choose my favorite, so many talents to choose from.
  • Everyone was great. We enjoyed it very much.

Congratulations to each of you for learning your music and performing. Special appreciation also to:

  • Saint Paul’s UMC for hosting
  • J.P. Marshall for running the sound
  • Chad Knipfer for getting us ready to perform and directing
  • Larry Hlavacek for emceeing
  • those who ushered and hosted the information booth
  • His Hands Free Clinic for their promotional support
  • Mary Huneke for her PR work and those who helped with that
  • Kelly Truax for her piano performance
  • Robert Shay for photography
  • the Gospel Concert Committee for all the planning and leg work

Tuesday Plan – 6:30 p.m.

  • Shenandoah
  • California Dreaming
