Improvement noted:
Good rehearsal last night. Also, at business meeting time we heard some good news, and some concerns that I’ll remind us about here:
- We learned of a new diagnosis for Tom Zuber. Here is his info on Caring Bridge site. Reach out though Caring Bridge or call or visit him at his home in Grand Living.
- We have a firm bid for St. Paul’s overhead costs of the Gospel Concert, $500. Rather than paying that out of the free will donations collected that night, I proposed asking the chorus to step up to cover the costs. The good news is, that three members stepped up with offers of $100 each! Can I get more to do so? Please respond to me if you’d like to contribute.

Your goal:
Top priority is to learn “Yes, Indeed”! There is a great learning track on the website. Memorize your part and be able to sing along with the combined track without looking at the music by next Tuesday.
Be entirely off the music on all Gospel Concert songs. After learning the songs we need to “make music” with them. That means that we need all eyes on Chad as he directs us. As we perform for the audience, we need to do that through Chad. All of us need to face him directly with eyes on him the entire time! Expression of the music will become natural as we connect the songs through him.

The plan is to run the songs being considered for the Gospel Concert.

VLQ Rehearsal next week at 6 p.m.
Continue to work on “Daddy Sang Bass” paying attention to the parts we worked on last night. These include the modification in measure 58, adding a rest and group breath on beat 1& and deleting the word “but.”
Also, basses, remember the solo “You Know” in measure 68.
Finally, claps begin in measure 81 and end on the downbeat of measure 88. Don’t cover the bass solo in that measure.

Improvement noted:
On “I Believe” we are much improved on starting quietly without scooping up to the pitch. Keep that improvement. Remember that dynamic changes in volume is the power of this song/ Follow the plan.
On “Yes, Indeed” we worked to become more accurate in the rhythm in measures 23 and 39. In cut time you can count that as “1&2&rest”; we drilled it as “1&2&clap.” Work on your own with the learning track nail this!

We have 7 rehearsals until the Gospel Concert. It is extremely important that you are off ALL music in the next three weeks. Chad needs you to watch him, and not your music, for the last month of rehearsals.
VLQ Rehearsal:
6:00 Tuesday, before rehearsal
We are looking at using a VLQ (very large quartet) to perform “Daddy Sang Bass”. If you would like to be a part of it, show up for our 6:00 rehearsals.
